Mercy Foundation Provides Loan
About the Microfinance Loan RecipientThe Mercy Foundation helped to fund a microfinance loan for Jurina, a general store owner in the Philippines. Jurina is now 37 years old, and is currently married with two children. She is working hard to help her family as both of her children are still in school. You will find Jurina living in Manapla, Negros Occidental, Philippines. Here, she has been running her business for the last three years. Her store sells a range of items that meets the communities immediate needs. And the items sold include snacks, canned goods, noodles and school supplies. For her to keep up with the needs for her business, Jurina approached the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation for a loan. The money she received would go towards purchasing more groceries for her store. Hence, more inventory can elevate her business, increase her income and ensure that her children get a good education up to the college level.
NWTF is Microfinance Loan PartnerHer loan was issued to her at the local level by the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF), a non-governmental organization and Kiva partner. The company takes pride in its all around approach to helping the people of Philippines escape poverty. Furthermore, they couple their financial services with a host of development services for their clients. Some of the services that they provide their clients include hospital income benefits, accidental death benefits, medical and dental missions, training courses, and many more. Through the NWTF and Kiva’s lending platform, it was possible for the Mercy Foundation to provide full funding for Jurina’s $425 loan. Consequently, this let her get one step closer to achieving her dream of sending her kids to college. Therefore, organizations like these are making a huge impact in low income communities, as they provide individuals and families with a means to escape the poverty that surrounds them. In conclusion, the reason why these organizations are so successful is very simple.
